Financial Support
Allies coalitions each received from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation (RWJF) a one-year planning grant of $150,000 followed by an implementation grant of up to $1.35 million to support the coalition, its targeted activities, and its evaluation. They also were expected to secure an additional commitment for matching funds totaling one third of each year's RWJF budget.  The Allies planning period began in January 2000, and coalitions completed their implementation period by July 2006.
Other Support
In addition to financial support, technical assistance to the Allies coalitions took many forms:
- annual meetings
- annual site visits
- individual technical assistance
- cross-coalition technical assistance
- coordination of presentations
- coordination of networking opportunities
The National Program Office (NPO) coordinated technical assistance that was provided by the NPO team as well as members of the National Advisory Committee and external experts and consultants.
